Student Success for the Incarcerated

Student Success: Foundations for Self Management is an innovative program designed to empower individuals within correctional facilities to unlock their full potential and pave the path toward a brighter future. This program, utilizing the book by the same name and authored by Gian Paolo Roma, this program focuses on essential life skills encompassing decision-making, self-reflection, and personal growth across five pivotal areas: communication, choice, caring, commitment, and coping.

At D5, we believe in equipping the incarcerated community with the tools they need to thrive and contribute positively to society. Through Student Success: Foundations for Self Management, individuals are guided to recognize their inherent potential and take ownership of their actions, ultimately fostering a sense of responsibility and accountability. As owner Sam Davis passionately states, "I don’t want anybody to say that I didn’t dedicate my life to this job, to my day job, but there’s more. And by me, going in and giving a talk, by having a conversation, and getting people to realize what they can do to help better themselves, it’s more impactful than I think any of us could have ever imagined."

This program isn't just about reducing recidivism rates; it's about instilling real-world life skills and values that extend far beyond the prison walls. By participating in Student Success: Foundations for Self Management, individuals gain invaluable insights and practical knowledge, setting them on a path toward positive growth and meaningful contribution.

Additionally, D5 hosts a monthly Men's Group where participants delve into aspects of the program, fostering open discussions in a safe and supportive environment. Join us in our mission to promote personal development, accountability, and lasting change within the correctional system and beyond. Together, let's build a brighter future for all.
